Cookie Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This policy explains how Shin Stories uses cookies and similar technologies on shinstories.co.uk.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. They can keep a website working, remember choices and help measure how people use it. Similar technologies can perform related functions without storing a traditional cookie.

How consent works

For visitors in the UK and Europe, analytics and advertising storage are denied by default. Choosing Accept on the cookie banner enables analytics storage; choosing Decline keeps it denied. In Google’s advanced consent mode, limited cookieless measurement signals may still be sent when storage is denied.

Cookies and services we use

Essential and functional

WordPress, security tools and the consent system may use cookies or local storage needed to operate the site, protect it, support logged-in users and remember your consent choice. These cannot always be switched off through the banner.

Google Analytics

When accepted, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id> to distinguish visitors and sessions and measure site use. Google documents a default expiry of up to two years for these cookies, although their lifetime may be affected by our configuration and your browser settings.

Third-party features

Buy Me a Coffee widgets, Spotify embeds, and pages reached through Amazon or social-media links may set their own cookies or receive technical information when loaded or used. Those services control their cookies and provide their own privacy information.

Your choices

Use the cookie banner to accept or decline non-essential storage. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser; doing so may affect some site features. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
